sounds like giving

voice.

expressing

range

pitch

resin

hunger.

too long between

feeling

full

and

feeling

heard.

you are heard.

as a trail of air

leaves your

parted

lips.

as sister’s

songs

make

breaks between tears

or startled

you become

alerted

to

intensity.

you are alerted

by

intensity.

a feeling inside you

a draft

a transition

a caress.

you grip

and twist

and blink

and

slowly,

tentatively

with

caution

only

un arch

your back

and

un furrow

the lines

in your forehead

your body loosens,

and holds on.

your body rests,

while waiting

weighting

wading

wailing

through

intensity.

eyes shut

and

dreams

show

under a silhouette

of dashing eyelids.

we rock

as you

sleep.

cradling

you loosely,

I am attune to the tiny

fingers draped across

my chest,

air whistling

in and

back

out

through your

body.

you

are

heard.
